About the Walk to Run 101 Program
In its 8th year, the Walk to Run 101 program attracts individuals from all different running abilities and fitness levels.  The program begins with training runs alternating walking and jogging, and ends with group participation in a 5k run.  The training group usually breaks into three main levels:  1) those who want to stick with the gradual training program (alternating from walk to jog to eventually running 3.1 miles), 2) those who want to walk the entire time, and 3) those who are comfortable jogging from the beginning with little or no walking. This program is a great way to meet NITRO members and others from the community who are interested in running.
